August 28, 2025

Latest software release includes advanced running features, dedicated mountain biking features and more

LATHE, Kan (August 28, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced new software and feature updates for select smartwatches including fenix® 8, Venu® X1, Forerunner® 570, Forerunner 970 and Enduro 3, along with Edge® 1050 cycling computers. These features can help customers take their training to the next level.

Smartwatches

  • Running tolerance: Understand the impact each run has on the body and train effectively with a recommended weekly maximum mileage.
  • Garmin Triathlon Coach training plan: Free triathlon training plans in Garmin Connect™ adapt daily and send personalized workouts to compatible devices based on performance, recovery and health metrics.
  • Track run daily suggested workouts: Maximize training with daily suggested workouts in track-friendly units. All tempo, threshold, VO2 max, anaerobic and sprint workouts are now available in the track-running format and include pace-based targets.
  • Running economy1: Measure overall energy efficiency after several runs using the HRM 600 heart rate monitor (sold separately).
  • Step speed loss1: Learn how much an athlete slows down when their foot hits the ground (HRM 600 required).
  • Evening Report: Before heading to bed, get reminders about the amount of sleep needed, along with details about tomorrow’s workout, weather and events.
  • Smart wake alarm: Gentle vibrations help users wake up at the optimal time and feel more refreshed.

Edge 1050

  • Timing gates: Set timing gates throughout a trail or course to track split times and better understand your performance in real time.
  • Forksight mode improvements: See more detailed information about upcoming forks in the trail, including the distance remaining on the trail, elevation profile and distance to return to start.
  • Enduro ride profile: Track total ascent and descent from each run and for the ride overall.
  • Downhill ride profile: Automatically laps when completing each run, so returning to the top on a shuttle or ski lift doesn’t affect ride stats.
  • 5 Hz GPS recording: View trail lines in greater detail while in a descent using the enduro or downhill ride profiles.

The free software updates have started to roll out to compatible devices. Customers can update their smartwatch or Edge by enabling automatic updates from their device and syncing with Garmin Connect, or by using Garmin Express.
