Game On! FLORIDA Lagoon Triathlon

(San Antonio, FL) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This fall, MetroLagoons and Game On! Race Events will team up to host athletes for the first-ever freshwater lagoon triathlon event in Florida — and it’s right here in Tampa Bay at Mirada Lagoon.

Scheduled for November 16, 2025, the inaugural Game On! FLORIDA Lagoon Triathlon marks Game On! Race Events’ first lagoon triathlon. This historic event will include International and Sprint Triathlons and Relays, International and Sprint Duathlons and International Aquabike options. Founded in 2018 by industry experts, Willie Savoie and Brian Huether, Game On! has since grown to host nearly 30 triathlon events across Florida annually and more than 300 events over the past seven years. With a passion for sporting events and commitment to creating memorable experiences for athletes, Willie and Brian combine their expertise to continually craft exciting events set in beautiful, lush settings across the state. Now, they introduce a new terrain to competitors: A lagoon.

Situated in San Antonio, FL across a whopping 15 acres, Mirada Lagoon is one of the largest man-made lagoons in the U.S. The property, which opened to guests in 2023, is home to crystal clear blue water and pristine white-sand beaches, with amenities including swimming, water obstacle courses, sport activities including kayaking and paddleboarding, signature food and beverage items, swim-up bar access, personal cabanas and more. Offering ample event space, the Game On! FLORIDA Lagoon Triathlon will be the first large-scale sporting event hosted at Mirada Lagoon.

With its first property, Epperson Lagoon, debuting in Wesley Chapel, FL in 2018, MetroLagoons has since gone on to expand its footprint by 400% in just seven years, opening lagoon facilities in San Antonio, Wimauma and most recently, North Fort Myers, FL. The company currently has one new location slated to open in Parrish, FL in 2026. With a growing presence and new partnership with Game On!, MetroLagoons looks forward to connecting with locals across the state and bringing the activities they love to lagoons nearest them.

The first swimmers in the Game On! FLORIDA Lagoon Triathlon will kick off the morning promptly at 7 a.m. with the International Triathlon Swim, followed by the bike events and finally rounding out the competition with the running events. Following completion of their event, athletes will have the opportunity to enjoy the facility and amenities. All events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
