Former Royal Marine and ultra-endurance athlete and VALLON Trailblazer, Mitch Hutchcraft has completed an extraordinary expedition dubbed “Project LIMITLESS”: a world-first journey from the coast of England to the summit of Mount Everest (07:20am, 11 May 2025), entirely under human power.

Amsterdam, Netherlands (May 12, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/Former Royal Marine and ultra-endurance athlete and VALLON Trailblazer, Mitch Hutchcraft has completed an extraordinary expedition dubbed “Project LIMITLESS”: a world-first journey from the coast of England to the summit of Mount Everest (07:20am, 11 May 2025), entirely under human power.

Spanning over 13,000 kilometers, the expedition combined channel swimming, ultra-distance cycling, marathon running, high-altitude trekking, and mountaineering. From the icy waters of the English Channel to the 8,849-meter summit of Everest, Hutchcraft’s mission took him through 19 countries, over 8 months, and across some of the world’s most challenging terrains.

“I’ve done some mad adventures in the past, but this was by far the biggest challenge of my life. It was one of the toughest things ever. But it was never just about reaching the summit – it was about proving that with purpose, resilience, and the right people behind you, even the most impossible challenge is not beyond our limits.” – Mitch Hutchcraft

A world-first human-powered route

Mitch began his journey on September 14, 2024, with a 34-kilometer swim across the English Channel, becoming one of only two swimmers out of ten to complete the crossing that day. From Calais, he cycled over 11,900 kilometers through Europe, the Middle East, and India – facing everything from border delays to extreme weather, and 7kgs weight loss.

Once he reached Digha, India, Mitch began the next leg: running nearly 900 kilometers to Kathmandu, Nepal, averaging a marathon a day in intense heat, through remote villages and bustling cities. After trekking 350 kilometers to Everest Base Camp, including an acclimatization summit of Lobuche East (6,119m), he launched his final ascent of Mount Everest.

On reaching the summit, Mitch became one of the few people in history to combine multiple endurance disciplines into a single continuous journey from sea level to the highest point on Earth.

“After over 220 days racing from England to the top of Mount Everest, we finally made it – fulfilling a dream and a promise that I made to myself at the age of 18. We were completely at the mercy of Mother Nature – but after over 13,000km of travel nothing was standing between me and the summit.” – Mitch Hutchcraft

“We finally made it to the top of Mount Everest. Absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t have done it without the kit that kept me safe the whole way – making the difference between life and death.” – Mitch Hutchcraft

One challenge. One cause.

Mitch undertook Project Limitless to support SAVSIM, a UK-based charity providing mental health support for veterans and wildlife conservation initiatives. His journey has raised thousands of pounds and widespread awareness, spotlighting the therapeutic connection between adventure, nature, and healing.
