November 26, 2025

A New Chapter for the Iconic Co2uT Gravel Event
Fruita, CO /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – One of North America’s most distinctive gravel cycling experiences is entering a new era. Desert Gravel—home of the legendary Co2uT Gravel event—is joining the TransRockies Race Series, ensuring the continuation and evolution of an event that’s become a cornerstone of the Western gravel scene.
Both organizations share a clear vision: to ensure a seamless transition of ownership and operations while preserving Desert Gravel’s integrity, reputation, and deep connection to the Fruita community.
The 2026 event will be managed collaboratively by local Race Director Kevin Kane, alongside TransRockies and industry veteran event director Kevin “Houda” McDonald, maintaining the event’s local expertise while integrating the proven systems and experience of the TransRockies team.
The 2026 Desert Gravel (Co2uT) is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, offering five distances to suit every rider—from first-time gravel adventurers to those seeking a full-day epic. Registration opens December 8 at 9 AM, with limited-time launch pricing available.
A Legacy of Passion, Challenge, and Connection
Founded by Morgan Murri, Desert Gravel and Co2uT have built a devoted following thanks to their mix of rugged adventure, meticulous organization, and warm community spirit. The event’s unique in-town start and finish in Fruita, paired with nearby camping and an inclusive weekend atmosphere, have made it a must-do on the gravel calendar.
“Desert Gravel has always been about more than just the miles,” said Morgan Murri, Founder of Desert Gravel. “It’s about the people, the energy, and the connection riders feel to this incredible landscape. Handing the event to the TransRockies team feels like passing it into the care of people who truly get it—and who will take it even further.”
A Growing Gravel Family
For TransRockies, the acquisition builds on more than two decades of adventure event experience and a growing presence in the North American gravel scene.
The series currently includes Gravel Fondo Moab (since 2024), The Range (Claresholm, AB, acquired in 2025), and the upcoming Rough Rider three-day stage race in Prescott, AZ, launching in 2026.
“Desert Gravel represents everything we love about gravel racing—authentic adventure, stunning terrain, and a strong community,” said Aaron McConnell, President of TransRockies. “Morgan has built something special, and our goal is to honor that while enhancing the experience with the resources, reach, and event expertise of the TransRockies Race Series.”
Proudly Rooted in Fruita
The City of Fruita has played an integral role in Desert Gravel’s success, providing the infrastructure and community support that have helped the event flourish. That partnership will continue well into the future.
We’re thrilled that Desert Gravel will remain a Fruita based event,” said Mayor Matthew Breman. “This race has become an iconic piece of Fruita’s cycling scene, not just for the riders, but for the visitors and families who come out to experience it. We love the energy it brings to our city every spring. We’re excited to welcome the TransRockies team and see this tradition continue to grow.”
A Weekend to Remember
For 2026, riders can expect the same world-class production standards, unforgettable courses, and signature TransRockies hospitality—complete with the Chillville festival experience that anchors the brand’s most celebrated events.
Registration for Desert Gravel 2026 opens December 8 at 9 AM MST at www.desertgravel.com. Launch pricing will be available for a limited time.
