Expanding access to coaching education for underrepresented communities serving runners of all ages and abilities

Church, VA (September 10, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Applications are open for the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Coaching Scholarship Fund, which provides over $10,000 annually to support organizations training the next generation of diverse running coaches and to ensure the RRCA’s coaching community reflects the diversity of the runners it serves.

Since 2012, the RRCA has partnered organizations serving diverse populations to bring the RRCA Coaching Certification courses directly into their communities. These efforts have improved access to education and increased the number of coaches of color in the RRCA’s national network of certified coaches. In 2023, the RRCA expanded this commitment by establishing the Coaching Scholarship Fund. Through an application process, the scholarship fund annually supports selected organizations that identify and prepare individual candidates for funded access to the RRCA Coaching Certification Program.

About the RRCA Coaching Certification Program

Launched in 1998, the RRCA Coaching Certification Program is the first national program created to train and certify long-distance running coaches. Today, it is widely recognized as the most trusted and accessible certification for distance running in the United States and abroad, with over 20,000 coaches trained globally. The program equips coaches with science-based knowledge in running mechanics, training theory, nutrition, injury prevention, and psychology, while emphasizing safe, inclusive, and effective coaching practices.
