With more than 25,000 athletes and spectators expected to descend on the city for the 41st edition of the 2XU Long Beach Marathon and Half Marathon, race organizer Motiv Sports today announced a continued partnership with LGB for the 2025 race weekend, set for October 4-5.
“The Long Beach Marathon is an event with a rich history in our community,” said Cynthia Guidry, Director of Long Beach Airport. “We know participants value a smooth travel experience, and we’re honored to continue this partnership that brings people together from across the country.”
Recognized as Southern California’s premier fall running event, the 2XU Long Beach Marathon features a scenic, oceanfront course that highlights Long Beach’s vibrant neighborhoods, iconic waterfront, and welcoming energy. Beyond race day, the event serves as a platform for dozens of local nonprofits and charity groups to raise awareness and critical funds.
With nonstop flights to 21 cities and one-stop connections to nearly 400 destinations in the U.S. and abroad, Long Beach Airport offers marathon participants and their families easy access to the start line and a perfect jumping-off point to explore the city’s beaches, restaurants and attractions. “Long Beach Airport captures the laid-back, coastal energy that defines the city and sets the tone for a 26.2-mile celebration of movement, community, and sunshine,” said Phyllis Blanchard, VP of Partnerships for Motiv Sports. “We’re excited to welcome runners from around the world back to Long Beach for another unforgettable event.”
Race weekend officially kicks off Friday, October 4, with a two-day Health & Wellness Expo at Marina Green, where participants pick up race packets and explore the latest in running gear, nutrition, and wellness.
On Saturday, the running begins with the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K, a family-friendly event perfect for all abilities. Whether running, walking, or shaking out the legs before Sunday’s longer distances, it’s a spirited start to the weekend.
Sunday, October 5, features the 2XU Long Beach Marathon, Half Marathon, and Bike Tour, all beginning on Shoreline Drive. The Bike Tour, a popular noncompetitive ride, lets cyclists enjoy the same course on closed roads before the runners.
