After finishing second last year: Jonas Schomburg attacks again in Roth
March 2, 2026

The Hanover native is going on the offensive
ROTH. (March 2, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – When the start gun goes off on July 5, 2026, last year’s runner-up will be back on the start line, and he’s not coming to wait and see: Jonas Schomburg has a clear plan. Attack.
“After my second place last year, there’s only one tactic this year. That’s offense.”
The 31-year-old led the field for a long time in 2025 after his last-minute start and made his mark on the race. Only the eventual winner, Sam Laidlow, was able to catch up with him. Schomburg finished in a strong 7:31:24 hours, just under two minutes behind the Frenchman, but already showed his enormous potential over the long distance, just one week after he had to end the race at Ironman Frankfurt after breaking his cockpit.
The Hanover native has already made his mark this season: after finishing sixth at the Ironman World Championship in Nice, he won the Challenge Sir Bani Yas on his birthday.
You can sense in every sentence that Roth is more than just a race for him:
“Challenge Roth is magical! The organization, the volunteers, the atmosphere, it’s truly unique. This is where triathlon is lived.”
On July 5, 2026, he will be back in the hunt. Fans can be sure that Schomburg will once again give it his all to finish the race at the front of the pack.
