Run Tucson Announces 20th Annual TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k and Festival of Miles

May 27, 2026

RRCA West Regional Mile Championships

/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 20th Anniversary edition of the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k Night Run & Festival of Miles returns to Downtown Tucson on May 30, 2026. The event combines a fast downtown 5k, elite and youth mile races, live music, community celebration, and fundraising for local nonprofits.

The event began nearly 20 years ago as an effort to activate Downtown Tucson through fitness, nightlife, and civic engagement. It has since become one of Tucson’s signature running and community events.

The event traces its roots to a downtown date night experienced by Randy and Tia Accetta nearly 20 years ago. At the time, Downtown Tucson had limited nightlife and activity. The founders created the race as a way to bring people together and energize downtown through running, music, arts, and community engagement.

Economic & Community Impact

Early beneficiaries included the Fox Theatre Tucson and Cinema La Placita. Over time, the race has expanded into a large-scale downtown festival while maintaining a strong focus on civic leadership, wellness, youth participation, and charitable giving.

The event has:

  • raised more than $350,000 for community organizations over its history,
  • supported arts and educational nonprofits,
  • promoted Downtown Tucson tourism and nightlife,
  • and helped establish Tucson as an RRCA Runner-Friendly Community.

Participants can expect:

  • Fast downtown 5k course
  • Open Mile, RRCA West Regional Championship Mile, and Running Shop HOKA High School Mile races
