July 28, 2025

Top finishers, Melisa Rollins and Payson McElveen, complete the race in 6:28:09 and 5:57:59 hours, respectively

Leadville, CO., (July 28, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/The iconic Leadville Race Series continued this weekend with the Life Time Leadville Stage Race Presented by Kenetik. Owned and produced by the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand, Life Time (NYSE: LTH), the event tackles the iconic Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB course over three days, in a stage race format. The sold-out weekend drew nearly 350 cyclists – the event’s largest field yet – representing 39 states and six countries to historic Leadville, Colo., with athletes ranging in age from 15 to 71.

The Leadville Stage Race serves as a qualifier for the prestigious Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik, which is set for Aug. 9. A sub-11-hour finish time is required to be considered an official Stage Race Finisher. Highlights of each day’s racing includes:

  • Stage One (Friday): Starting at Lake County Rodeo Grounds, riders tackled 3,812 feet of elevation gain over the course of 40-miles, finishing at the Twin Lakes Dam.
  • Stage Two (Saturday): A 22-mile out-and-back course, peaked at Columbine Mine at 12,497 feet, the highest point of the course.
  • Stage Three (Sunday): Closely mirroring stage one, the 41-mile course starts at Twin Lakes Dam and amasses 4,501 feet of climbing.

Melisa Rollins secured the first-place woman’s spot in the Stage Race, crushing her winning time in 2024 by over 23 minutes. Last year, she went on to win the 2024 Leadville Trail 100 MTB. Payson McElveen, a Life Time Grand Prix competitor who missed UNBOUND Gravel due to injury, locked up first place in the Stage Race for the men’s field. Additional elite cyclists including Kate Courtney, Cecily Decker, Sofia Gomez Villafane, Paige Onweller and Torbjorn Roed participated in the Stage Race, many in preparation for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB, which is the next race in the Life Time Grand Prix, taking place on August 9.

Adding to the weekend experience, each stage was followed by post-race celebrations including dinner, awards and entertainment at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds. A final awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon saw 35 athletes secure a qualifier coin for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB.

“Finishing the Stage Race is a true test of grit and determination,” shared Amanda Kussin, Leadville Race Series marketing manager. “Three consecutive days of high-altitude riding is no small feat – but the sense of community that forms over the weekend is what makes it truly special. It’s a powerful reflection of Life Time’s mission to help people live healthier, happier lives.”
