80/20 Endurance Expands NorwegianTraining.com with Triathlon Plans
March 6, 2026

The next phase brings the Norwegian Method to multisport athletes
Marrch 6, 2026, Lehi, UT /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – 80/20 Endurance today announced the expansion of NorwegianTraining.com with the addition of triathlon training plans based on the internationally respected Norwegian Method of endurance training, marking the next phase of its rollout of programs built around this approach.
Following the successful launch of Norwegian running plans, the new triathlon offerings extend the same principles that have powered Norway’s sustained success in endurance sport. Most recently, at the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship, Norwegian athletes swept the men’s podium — with Casper Stornes winning the world title, Gustav Iden finishing second, and Kristian Blummenfelt third — while Solveig Løvseth captured the women’s world championship in Kona.
Norwegian success in endurance sport extends beyond triathlon. Since the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Norwegian athletes have produced standout performances in middle-distance running and across winter endurance sports, including a dominant showing at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, where Norway topped the overall medal table. Together, these results have drawn increasing attention to the systematic training methods used by Norway’s elite programs.
The Norwegian Method is known for its precise emphasis on lactate-threshold–focused interval work, carefully balancing moderate and low intensities to maximize aerobic development while reducing injury risk and cumulative fatigue. While elite Norwegian athletes often validate training intensity with lactate testing, the Norwegian Training plans from 80/20 Endurance translate the system into accessible, data-driven programs using heart rate, pace, and power zones.
The newly released triathlon plans integrate structured swim, bike, and run training within this threshold-focused framework and are available now through TrainingPeaks. The plans are designed for a range of ability levels, from developing age-group athletes to experienced competitors seeking structured progression rooted in evidence-based methodology.
The release also includes swim-only plan options that apply the same principles in the water, emphasizing aerobic development, technical efficiency, and repeatable threshold work — hallmarks of the Norwegian model.
“Triathlon has been one of the most visible showcases of the Norwegian Method,” says 80/20 Endurance cofounder and 80/20 Running author Matt Fitzgerald. “With these new triathlon and swim plans, athletes can apply the same disciplined, research-driven approach that has proven effective at the highest levels of the sport.”
All Norwegian Training plans are delivered through TrainingPeaks, allowing athletes to follow structured workouts on their devices and review performance data with detailed analytics.
