2025 Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K Weekend Celebrates Sellout Success With Challenges, Festival Vibes, And A Wishes Granted
September 2, 2025

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (September 2, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2025 Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K, presented by Sentara concluded a spectacular two-day running festival this weekend. The event celebrated a sellout field of 4,493 participants who enjoyed perfect running conditions, a vibrant post-race party, and incredible community support.
The weekend kicked off on Saturday with a fast and fun 5K, followed by a post-race celebration featuring music from DJ Joe Fu, delicious food, and cold beer. The energy escalated on Sunday morning for the flagship 10 Miler, where runners were greeted with gorgeous, sunny skies and cool coastal breezes, creating ideal conditions for personal records. The celebration continued at the finish line festival on Sunday with a performance from the high-energy, 90’s nostalgic band Be Kind & Rewind, offering runners and spectators the perfect soundtrack to enjoy more food and refreshments.
A striking sight across the weekend was the number of participants proudly wearing multiple medals around their necks. Beyond the standard 5K and 10 Miler finisher medals, many athletes earned additional hardware by completing the Live the Life Challenge (completing both the 5K and 10 Miler) and the Beach Bum Challenge (completing the 10 Miler or 5K plus an additional distance from the 2025 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend).
“We are continually humbled by the overwhelming support for this event,” said Race Director Amy Frostick. “From the volunteers who give their time, the sponsors who make it all possible, to every single runner who toes the line, this weekend is a true testament to the strength and heart of our community. Seeing everyone come together to not only achieve their personal goals but also to grant a wish for a child is what makes this event so special.”
A core mission of the event is its support of the Chartway Promise Foundation. Thanks to the generous donations from participants, the event was able to grant a wish for a child in need on both Saturday and Sunday, continuing a powerful tradition of giving back.
“Partnering with J&A Racing for the Chartway Virginia Beach 10-Miler & 5K brings runners, families, and the community together in such a meaningful way,” said Brian Schools, president & CEO of Chartway Credit Union. “This race is more than just miles on the course; it also helps our charitable arm, the Chartway Promise Foundation, bring memorable experiences to medically fragile children and their families.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to J&A Racing for helping us kick off our month-long fundraising efforts in observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month,” said Christine Wilson, president of the Chartway Promise Foundation. “Our partnership allows us to spotlight our brave Promise Heroes in front of thousands of supporters, and it’s moving to see the Hampton Roads running community show their support to help make their wishes come true.”
In an exciting update, the event will move to Mother’s Day Weekend next year. The 2026 Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K presented by Sentara is set for Saturday, May 9, 2026.
