December 19, 2025

Orange County’s fastest holiday tradition returns with new course and a sold-out field of nearly 4,000 participants

IRVINE, California (December 19, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Hoag OC Marathon will host the 12th annual Run for a Claus 5K and one-mile run/walk this Saturday, December 20, marking a new chapter for the popular holiday tradition with a new venue, new date and a sold-out field of nearly 4,000 runners.

For the first time, Run for a Claus will take place at Great Park in Irvine, offering runners and families a fresh course and expanded event space while maintaining the festive spirit that has made the race a Southern California holiday tradition.

The family-friendly event supports five local charities, benefiting the community through fundraising efforts, toy drives and holiday giving initiatives that extend the impact beyond race day.

“When you Run For a Claus, you run for a cause!” said race director Gary Kutcher. “This event brings together the joy of the holidays with meaningful community impact, and we’re excited to celebrate another sold-out year at an incredible new venue.”

The Kids One-Mile Run/Walk will begin at 8am, followed by the 5K race at 8:30am. Runners of all ages are encouraged to dress in festive attire, with Santa making a special appearance throughout the morning for photos.

All registered participants receive a holiday-themed race package, including a Santa hat and beard, a shiny finisher medal adorned with holly and a bell, free professional photos along the course and with Santa, and a 2025 commemorative cozy holiday scarf.

Now in its 12th year, Run for a Claus continues to blend fitness, fun and philanthropy, welcoming runners, walkers and families to celebrate the season while giving back to those in need.
