USA Triathlon Reveals Second Annual Duathlon Race Series

March 18th, 2014

Series features top run-bike-run events in each of USA Triathlon’s 10 Regions

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon today announced the 11 events that will comprise the second annual 2014 USA Triathlon Duathlon Race Series, created in 2013 to meet the needs of the growing multisport discipline of duathlon.

With one event in each of USA Triathlon’s 10 Regions, athletes from across the country will have the opportunity to compete for points in top-flight run-bike-run events. USA Triathlon’s Duathlon National Championships, set for July 19 in St. Paul, Minn., has also been included in the series, encouraging athletes nationwide to compete in this prestigious event. More information on Duathlon Nationals is available at

Awards will be presented to the winners of each event, as well as winners of the series. Athletes must complete at least two events to be eligible for a series score. Each event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and will count toward the popular end-of-year Duathlon National Rankings for USA Triathlon annual members.

The first event of the series — the Double Oak Duathlon — is scheduled for April 12 in Birmingham, Ala., and series races will continue through Oct. 19. Eight of the 10 events from the 2013 Duathlon Race Series are part of the series again in 2014. Visit for more information on the USA Triathlon Duathlon Race Series.
