World Champion Gwen Jorgensen, CEO Rob Urbach discuss state of the sport
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The business of triathlon will be showcased in a new episode of Beyond the Medals – The Business of Sport, airing this Wednesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Universal Sports Network.
The episode is comprised of interviews with reigning ITU World Champion and current No. 1 world ranked Gwen Jorgensen, USA Triathlon CEO Rob Urbach and United States Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun. Topics include the key role of sponsorship, the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago, triathlon’s status as an NCAA Emerging Sport for Women and other initiatives to gain participants and spectators nationwide. The segment with Blackmun further discusses the need for opportunities for student athletes, Olympic hopefuls and Olympians regardless of institutional budget constraints.
