Magda joins the prestigious group of Leadville winners
The Leadville race series is rich in history and the 100 miler is often listed as an A list race among many elite athletes. The course is a 100-mile out-and-back in the midst of the Colorado Rockies. Known as the “Race across the Sky,” the low point is 9,200 with a high point of 12,600 feet.
Magdalena Boulet, also known as Magda, is a runner from Oakland, California. She was born in Poland but became a citizen of the United States on September 11, 2001. Magda finished second place at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Women’s Marathon. Magda has competed and done well in many races over her career, one very pivotal race was her debut 100-mile race Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run in 2015 which she won. Magda is a highly focused, goal driven endurance athlete with a background in swimming which ultimately proved to be very helpful throughout her career in running.
Magda ran Leadville this year and placed 1st female with a finishing time of 20:18:06. “Leadville. Grit. You just don’t quit.” Was the saying Magda repeated to herself during the mentally tiresome portions of the race. “There were several of those moments” Magda said.
Magda has had quite the race schedule and will continue her 2019 with some impressive upcoming races and goals. Currently, Magda is in Chamonix ready to toe the line at UTMB.
