Third Annual Champions Ride Will Challenge Athletes, Lift Up Hang Tough Heroes

Tallahassee bike ride returns in 2019 in support of the Hang Tough Foundation

(TALLAHASSEE, Fla. )—The Champions Ride will once again bring competition with a cause to Florida’s capital city. The weekend-long event is set for Feb. 16 and 17, 2019, and registration is now open. The ride, presented in part by Science of Speed endurance coaching, gives each participant the chance to become a Champion for the Hang Tough Foundation, the event’s official charity partner. Both casual riders and elite athletes are invited to register at http://bit.ly/Champion2019. For more information on the weekend’s events, visit www.ChampionsRide.org.

Saturday’s criterium races will take place at Summit East Business Park. Sunday’s rides, ranging between 12 and 100 miles, will begin at Chiles High School.

The event supports the Hang Tough Foundation, which has seen tremendous growth in just four years of serving local families who are affected by a childhood diagnosis of chronic or life-altering illnesses and special needs. In 2015, the organization served 42 families. In 2018, Hang Tough is now positively impacting the lives of 500 families in the Big Bend region of Florida. The nonprofit presents 14 unique programs that focus on supporting the emotional wellness of the entire family unit including Parents’ Night Out, Santa Day and Teen Hangouts.

“While the endurance of our athletes is impressive, the enduring spirit of Hang Tough Hero families is what we’re truly hoping to spotlight throughout the event,” said Brady Irwin, Science of Speed owner and coach. “Throughout my years of coaching and racing, I have witnessed how sport can bring communities together — and adding a charitable element only increases that connection. We’re glad to be inviting athletes back to Tallahassee for another year of riding and fundraising.”
