The Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon returns to the streets of Berkeley

November 14, 2019

The Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon will once again take to the streets of Berkeley this Sunday, November 17th, after last year’s race had to be canceled due to the dangerous air conditions.

This year will be a record-setting year for the race with over 11,000 runners in the 4 distances – Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and Family 1k – running the streets of the Berkeley community on November 16th and 17th.

Packet Pickup is at Sports Basement Berkeley, 2727 Milvia St. on November 15th from 11 am – 7 pm and November 16th from 9 am – 5 pm. Over 20 vendors will be there to showcase the latest in shoes, nutrition, running accessories and recovery products. Throughout the weekend there will be on-site nutrition sampling, product demos, a photo booth, an in-store DJ and in-store discounts.

The Family 1k is on Saturday, November 16th at Sports Basement. A portion of the registration fees for this race benefits the Berkeley Public Schools Fund. The Berkeley Public Schools Fund is the official charity of the race. Participants who donate $35 or more will be given a specialty shirt. Donations directly support teachers’ ideas and creativity with classroom grants, summer fellowships and volunteer support in the classroom.  Their annual goal is to raise 1 million dollars.

Race day on Sunday, November 17 starts at 7:30am @ Milvia St. at Kitteredge Street for the Half Marathon. The course features neighborhood and waterfront views plus a foot tour of the Cal Berkeley Campus where participants run through the iconic Sather Gates and past the Historic Campanile. The 10k and 5k races start at 8:30am at the same location. Runner’s can be tracked in real time by visiting here.
