Sixth Annual GFNY Cozumel gets ready to host 3000 riders from 55 countries

Mexico’s largest bike race is GFNY’s unofficial End of Year Party in paradise where riders get to race hard and play hard

NEW YORK CITY, November 8, 2019 – GFNY, the Global Marathon Cycling Series, returns to Cozumel, Mexico for its sixth edition this Sunday, November 10th.

GFNY Cozumel is Mexico’s largest and most international bike race with over 50 countries participating along with a field of top athletes from Mexico. Among others: World Tour rider Alejandro Villalobos of Education First Pro Team; 3-time national champ, Olympian, GFNY Cozumel 2015 and GFNY Panama 2019 winner Luis Lemus; 2019 GFNY Monterrey champion Fernando Arroyo.

Since 2014, the island of Cozumel in Mexico has annually attracted riders from around the world. GFNY Cozumel is the perfect season ending race with fully closed-to-traffic roads and Mexican fiesta party awaiting at the finish line.

GFNY Cozumel offers two route options. The 100 mile competitive long course takes riders on 2 loops of Cozumel island. The course may be flat, but the tropical elements and notorious trade winds ensure riders will have to work extra hard.

Riders taking on the non-competitive short course will ride one lap totaling 50 miles.

“The course will take your breath away,” said Shaun Gad, co-Founder/CEO of GFNY Cozumel. “Your journey will take you through two hot laps around the coastline of this beautiful island, with more than 40 miles of picturesque and wide-open ocean views. Along the way, you’ll be challenged by strong Mayan winds and celebrated by the town locals for that extra special BE A PRO FOR A DAY feeling that you get at GFNY.”

10% of finishers in each age group in the long route will qualify for the Racer Corral at the 2020 GFNY World Championship in NYC on May 17th.
