Special breakout for female professionals in the running industry will include small group ice breakers, panel discussion on “The Courage to Play Big” and social networking
(August 15, 2019) – For the last two years, a happy hour just for women in the running industry has been one of the most packed and energetic sessions at the annual Running USA conference. In Las Vegas in 2020, this session will feature a more structured theme and format thanks to the efforts of Melissa McConville and Sara Tanza, co-founders of the She.Is.Beautiful race series in California.
“We’re thrilled to have She.Is.Beautiful on board to make this special conference session even more valuable and rewarding for the attendees,” said Christine Bowen, vice president of programming, partnerships and operations for Running USA. “This is the evolution I envisioned when we launched this fun happy hour at our 2018 event in Austin.”
Working with the theme “The Courage to Play Big,” the session will focus on women’s dynamic leadership in the running business as well as their perspective as the industry’s target consumer. It will include organized small group power circles, a panel discussion, and conclude with cocktails and conversation.
“Women professionals in the running industry are truly stronger together and the support we can give each other to keep showing up bravely in our roles is a game changer. We look forward to creating a space to break down barriers, help each other rise, and connect in a powerful way,” said Melissa McConville. She and her sister founded She.Is.Beautiful nine years ago and produce two large events in Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara, Calif., each year.
“We have seen the running industry change rapidly over the last 10 years. Both challenges and successes in the industry happen every day. As women are the minority on the professional side of the running industry, empowering ourselves and each other is a crucial piece to thrive here. Let’s honor ourselves, support each other, and level up,” McConville said.
