San Diego Leprechaun Run “Doubles the Luck” with New 10K for 2027
September 16, 2026

Registration is now open for the 9th Annual San Diego Leprechaun Run, returning to Pacific Beach March 13 with a brand-new 10K alongside the 5K and Kids 1 Mile
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (September 15, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — The San Diego Leprechaun Run is doubling the luck in 2027. Registration is now open for the 9th Annual San Diego Leprechaun Run, returning to Pacific Beach on Saturday, March 13, 2027, with a brand-new 10K distance joining the event’s signature 5K and Kids 1 Mile.
The new 10K will give runners twice the miles—and twice the luck—with a two-loop course through the heart of Pacific Beach. The addition marks the first time the event has offered a distance beyond the 5K, expanding race-day options while keeping the festive St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere that has become a San Diego tradition.
“Every year, we see runners come out ready to embrace everything that makes the Leprechaun Run fun—the costumes, the community and the chance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a few miles through Pacific Beach,” said Eric Marenburg, co-founder and Chief Running Officer of San Diego Running Co. “Adding the 10K gives runners a new challenge while keeping all of that personality. If one loop brings the luck, we figured two must be even better.”
The 10K will kick off race morning at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:00 a.m. and the Kids 1 Mile at 10:30 a.m. Both the 5K and 10K will take runners through the heart of Pacific Beach, bringing the St. Patrick’s Day celebration to the streets of one of San Diego’s most iconic coastal communities.
Known for transforming Pacific Beach into a sea of green, the San Diego Leprechaun Run welcomes runners, walkers and families to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend with a morning of fitness and fun. Participants are encouraged to embrace the occasion with everything from green tutus and shamrock sunglasses to giant leprechaun hats, rainbow gear and full costumes.
Kicking Off the 2027 RUN PB Challenge
The Leprechaun Run will once again serve as the first race of the 2027 RUN PB Challenge, giving participants the opportunity to take on three signature San Diego Running Co. events in Pacific Beach throughout the year.
After starting their challenge at the Leprechaun Run in March, participants can continue at the Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K in October before completing the series at the San Diego Santa Run in December. The challenge encourages runners to experience Pacific Beach in three very different ways throughout the year while working toward completing the full series.
The Finish Line for the Newly Announced Run Club Cup
The 2027 Leprechaun Run will also serve as the final race of the newly announced 2026–27 Run Club Cup, San Diego Running Co.’s new competition designed to celebrate and bring together the region’s local run club community.
Throughout the Run Club Cup, participating clubs earn points based on member participation at eligible San Diego Running Co. races. The Leprechaun Run will be the final opportunity for clubs to add to their point totals before the inaugural Run Club Cup champions are crowned, bringing an extra layer of friendly competition and community spirit to race day.
