Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas; Half Marathon returns March 21-22 with new Saturday 5k; Humana named official title sponsor of the two-day running festival weekend; Olympic medalist Deena Kastor to pace the 5k and half marathon
DALLAS – March 18, 2015 – Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon is ready to rock with more than 13,000 participants taking over the streets of Dallas the weekend of March 21-22. New this year, Humana joined as the title sponsor and the race also added a second day of running with the new Rock ‘n’ Roll 5k on Saturday, March 21 at Fair Park. To elevate the excitement of race weekend, Olympic medalist and American marathon-record holder Deena Kastor returns to pace both the Saturday 5k and Sunday half marathon.
“We are back and ready to rock the ‘Big D’ with our runners and the entire community,” said Megan Miller, Event Manager of Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas. “This year will be bigger than ever with two days of running, a new course, Humana partnership and running legend Deena Kastor. We invite the entire community to come out and be a part of another epic race weekend.”
Humana, a leading health and well-being company, signed on as the title sponsor of the 2015 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas. Coming off a successful run as the title sponsor of the 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon, the half marathon in Dallas will feature an official Humana mile where participants can cool down at an inflatable misting and water station. There will also be a Humana booth at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday where attendees can have free Biometric Screenings and take advantage of other health and well-being activities.
Participants can also run or walk for a cause through Humana’s partnership with Charity Miles, an app that lets everyday people raise money for charity through exercise. For every mile completed, Humana will donate 25 cents to a participant’s charity of choice. To participate, runners must download the Charity Miles app and select one of 25 different national charities to support. As of December 2014, Charity Miles users who walked, ran, or biked for Humana have logged over 2,000,000 miles, and raised over $500,000 for charity. And Humana has made $130,000 in matching contributions.

Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas’ new half-marathon route will start atS. Lamar Street and Young Street and then tour Dallas’ charming neighborhoods and bustling downtown attractions. Course highlights include Pioneer Plaza, Deep Ellum, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and Dealey Plaza. The new Saturday 5k starts and finishes in Fair Park.
Both days of running will feature local bands performing through the streets of Dallas, along with spectators and high school cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing at American Airlines Center, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post-race concert including Sunday’s headlining performance by Eric Hutchinson.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find numerous vendors, interactive clinics with running experts, elite athletes, and much more. The expo takes place at the Dallas Convention Center on Friday, March 20 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.
Runners who participate in Saturday’s 5k and in the half-marathon or relay on Sunday will join Deena Kastor in earning the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medal.
