OAXACA, Mexico – November 17, 2017 – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series today announced a new race in Mexico with the addition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oaxaca Half Marathon, which will make its debut on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
The race will take place at night with an 8 p.m. start time and will also feature a 10K distance. Registration is now open and can be accessed at RunRocknRoll.com.
“We are thrilled to continue expanding the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series in Mexico,” said Stacy Campbell, Vice President of Global Events. “Oaxaca is a beautiful city that is rich in history and culture and will be a great destination for runners to explore. This launch would not be possible without the help of our partners at Oaxaca State Government and As Deporte who have allowed us to put on another world class event this spring.”
Oaxaca, known for its world heritage and beautiful colonial style is now part of a worldwide series of musically-themed half marathons uniquely combining entertainment and running into a 13.1 block party. The event will feature live bands positioned on entertainment stages along the scenic course and wraps up with a finish line concert featuring a major headline act.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Oaxaca will start and finish at the Polideportivo Cecude and will pass by the city’s famous and historic sites including, the Cathedral, Macedonio Alcala Teather, Oaxaca center stores, Oaxaca City Street, Oaxaca walk way and Oaxaca Centro.
Race weekend will begin with a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The expo takes place at Ciudad de Las Canteras Convention Center on Friday, April 27 from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
