Toyota Rock ’n’ Roll Concert Series to feature award-winning music talent throughout fall concert series
TAMPA, Fla. – Today the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® announced the headliner schedule for the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series for the upcoming fall events. Following a renewed focus of Bringing Fun to the Run™ with more music than ever before, a wide variety of exciting critically acclaimed groups including Capital Cities, Michael Franti, Oak & Ash, MarchFourth and Matt Costa will take to stages at Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events across North America.
Music makes up the heart and “sole” of this coming fall’s event series as runners enjoy a wide variety of music along the race courses and at the finish-line festivals through the remainder of the year. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is proud to present the 2018 Fall Headliner Schedule below:

Oak & Ash
Hailing from New York City, Oak & Ash formed in late 2014 and set out to change the landscape of the Pop Rock scene with a variety of soulfully written and performed original records. Their explosive anthems, soaring guitar solos, soulful vocals, and recognizable pop song structure, have been compared to a mix between Kings of Leon, Maroon 5, and Coldplay. In August of 2016 they were named the winner of Newsday’s Battle of the Bands contest and in early 2017 they were named the winner of Bon Jovi’s “Opening Act Contest.” Just over three years after its formation, the group has booked renowned venues such as The Gramercy Theatre, Irving Plaza, The Paramount Theatre, Webster Hall, and most recently Madison Square Garden, opening for Bon Jovi.

Adding more musical entertainment to the race this year and creating even more opportunities to bring the community together, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Montreal Marathon faithful will be treated to not one but THREE headline acts. Grégory Charles and Friends will take to the stage on Saturday, September 22 and give a frenzied 2 hour and 2 minute uninterrupted performance in a nod to the world marathon record set by Kenyan runner Dennis Kimetto (2 hours, 2 minutes, 57 seconds) in Germany in 2014. Sharing the stage on Friday, September 21 will Boogie Wonder Band and finally, LADY’5 will deliver an energetic and colourful performance on Sunday, September 23. MarchFourth is an internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking musical and performance group that offers a sonic explosion of sound delivered by 20 musicians, dancers and artisans, who travel the world year-round, taking audience members of all ages, from all walks of life, on a joy-inducing, foot-stomping, booty-shaking, soul-stirring journey that defies categorization. Andy Smith of Providence Journal describes the group as “a cross between a funky New Orleans brass band, with lots of percussion, and a circus troupe, complete with dancers and stilt walkers.”

Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Half Marathon – October 20-21, 2018
Dragondeer released their debut full length LP If You Got The Blues in March which they recorded with legendary producer Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Tom Waits). Live for Live Music calls their sound a “hybrid of Mississippi Delta blues and 1960s psychedelic rock.” Dragondeer has shared the stage with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Shakey Graves, Drive By Truckers, Futurebirds, The Entrance Band, The Bright Light Social Hour, Hot Buttered Rum, Murder City Devils, Anders Osborne, Jerry Joseph, Sonny Landreth, J Roddy Walston, Linda Perhacs, Jarekus Singleton, Leon Russell, Steel Pulse, and Wovenhand. United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon – October 28, 2018
Fresh off his newly released album Santa Rosa Fangs, this hometown California artist has been around the world working with artists like Belle and Sebastian, penning film scores, and releasing a variety of genre-bending EPs. Following a five-year hiatus from recording filled with a variety of projects, including scoring the film Orange Sunshine and releasing independent records, Costa has returned to tour in support of his new album. Early on, Costa toured with Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse, Oasis, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Death Cab for Cutie, while making a name for himself.

Michael Franti & Spearhead
Hailing from Oakland, California, Michael Franti has produced singles and albums incorporating hip-hop, funk, reggae and jazz, into his music. Along with forming his band Spearhead, he has participated in many musical projects, most emphasizing social and political issues, and is known as an advocate for a number of global issues with a focus on making an impact in the world. In June, Franti released his newest album, “Stay Human 2,” that will be used as the soundtrack for his new documentary.

Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon – November 10-11, 2018
The Los Angeles-based indie-electro band formed in 2010 and released their debut EP in 2011, giving them their breakout hit “Safe and Sound” that went Multi-Platinum. The song later served as the lead single from their debut studio album, in a Tidal Wave of Mystery, released in 2013. “Safe and Sound” earned MTV Video Music, Grammy and Billboard Music Award nominations while reaching #1 on the U.S. Alternative Songs Chart, #2 on the U.S. Rock Songs Chart, #1 on the German Media Control singles chart and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band followed with successful subsequent singles including “Kangaroo Court” and “One Minute More,” giving them three songs off their debut album to reach Top 50 in the charts.
