Athletes and adventure seekers invited to conquer Canberra in 2019
The Canberra Times Australian Running Festival, presented by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), will return to the nation’s capital for a jam-packed festival of fitness and fun on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2019.
The pinnacle event in the Australian running calendar, The Australian Running Festival is held over two consecutive days and attracts people of all fitness levels including some of the Australia’s best athletes, to discover the nation’s capital in an experience like no other.
Entrants are invited to rise to the challenge and choose from a range of world-class courses throughout the festival weekend. The 5km and 10km events will be held on Saturday and the Half Marathon, Canberra Times Canberra Marathon and Ultra Marathon will be held on Sunday.
In 2019, The Australian Running Festival will once again host the 50km Ultra Marathon National Championships, showcasing the stunning sights of Canberra, where competitors may be selected to represent Australia at the IAU World Ultra Marathon Championships.
The picturesque event course passes through some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, with the 50km Ultra Marathon taking in the grandeur of Parliament House and tranquil Lake Burley Griffin. The Ultra Marathon will run alongside the Marathon and Half Marathon, all events finish together at the West Lawns in front of Old Parliament House.

We are inspired by the collective commitment of thousands of people achieving their personal best, and we encourage entrants to challenge themselves in preparation for this exciting event.”
Aside from promoting health, fitness and community participation, the event is also a major fundraiser for local community groups and charities and aims to raise $200,000 for more than 300 charities in 2019.
Runners and spectators can also enjoy a relaxed festival atmosphere from the immersive event village, including an entertainment stage, various exhibitors, an elite VIP area and a kids’ zone fitted out with a plethora of activities, to ensure a weekend of fun for the whole family.
Following a successful inaugural year, The Australian Running Festival will once again collaborate with TCS as official presenting partner and technology partner. TCS has a history of partnering with many of the world’s biggest running events, including the TCS New York City Marathon, TCS Amsterdam Marathon, London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Singapore Marathon and numerous other races.
