RALEIGH, NC – May 12, 2016 – Registration for the 4th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by WRAL is now open. The springtime race returns to Raleigh the weekend of April 1 – 2, 2017 and will take runners on a scenic tour through downtown. Registration is specially priced at $65 for the marathon, $59 for the half marathon and $30 for the 5K through May 17.
“This year was bigger than ever before with two days of running,” said Alex Bennett, Vice President of Events of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “We have our participants to thank for a successful race and the Raleigh community for welcoming us back year after year. We look forward to putting on another world-class event in 2017.”
This year the event introduced two days of racing with the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K on Saturday, which gave participants the opportunity to earn a special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s individual finisher medal. In 2017 the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K will return allowing participants to once again complete the Remix Challenge.
The marathon and half marathon will start and finish downtown and tour charming neighborhoods and scenic parks, among other attractions. In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, participants will be greeted by the sounds of live entertainment, along with spectators and cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the finish line festival.
A complimentary Health & Fitness Expo kicks off race weekend on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The expo will have numerous vendors featuring the latest in running gear, nutrition and training.
