Pieter Heemeryck holds a strong lead in the Challenge Family World Bonus after The Championship and excitement returns to the women’s ranking

Thanks to an amazing second place at THECHAMPIONSHIP, Pieter Heemeryck is the sole leader the CHALLENGEFAMILY‘s World Bonus ranking. Sebastian Kienle has moved up to second place, thanks to his strong victory in Samorin. In the women’s ranking, Lisa Roberts is still in the lead, but athletes including Radka Kahlefeldt and Daniela Bleymehl are moving up closely.

After his win at CHALLENGEHEILBRONN just two weeks ago, Sebastian Kienle demonstrated his power yet again at THECHAMPIONSHIP. It was his solid swim and bike, but moreover his astonishing half marathon (1:11hr) that helped him catch Heemeryck in the last 2km of the run, who had been leading throughout the race. Kienle claimed victory with a new race record and profited from the double points awarded at THECHAMPIONSHIP. He added 500 points to his 250 points earned at CHALLENGEHEILBRONN. His 750 points in total put him in second place together with Romain Guillaume.

Heemeryck’s result in Samorin earned him 400 points to add to his total and he now has a comfortable lead with 1150 points in the World Bonus ranking. Rudi von Berg and Andreas Dreitz came third and fourth respectively at THECHAMPIONSHIP. Van Berg’s 300 points were his first of the season and put him in shared tenth position together with Michael Raelert and Dreitz. Dreitz collected a further 200 points in Samorin to add to his 100 points earned at CHALLENGEHEILBRONN two weeks ago and now also has a total of 300 points.

Excitement returns to the women’s ranking

All the excitement returned to the women’s ranking after yesterday’s THECHAMPIONSHIP. Although Lisa Roberts is still in the lead, her advantage on numbers two and three has narrowed considerably. While Roberts collected 40 points at the race in Samorin, Radka Kahlefeldt’s second place earned her 400 points for the World Bonus. Daniela Bleymehl came third and earned 300 points. The German athlete Bleymehl currently has a total of 750 points and is now in second place in the World Bonus, only 105 points behind Roberts. Kahlefeldt is on a total of 650 points and is currently the new number three.

One woman dominated THECHAMPIONSHIP and that was British athlete and defending champion Lucy Charles. She was in the lead from start to finish, breaking a race record at the same time. Charles earned her first 500 points of the season, which currently puts her in sixth place in the World Bonus ranking.
