Picky Bars to Feed The Dream of Triathlon World Championship Qualifying Athletes
May 10, 2017
Oregon-based energy bar company will assist athletes in eating well as they train hard and chase their dreams for Chattanooga and Kona this year.
BEND, Oregon. (May 10, 2017) – In the spirit of supporting athletes and giving back to the sport, Picky Bars—the Oregon-based energy bar company founded by professional athletes Jesse Thomas, Lauren Fleshman, and Steph Bruce—has launched the Feed the Dream Project for 2017, this year geared specifically towards triathletes.
In 2016 Picky Bars fed the dream of Olympic hopefuls across six different sports throughout their training. Thirteen athletes fulfilled their dream and competed in Rio, racking up a cumulative eleven medals as a group.
This year Picky Bars has moved from five rings to three disciplines, offering support to triathletes gunning for 140.6 or 70.3 World Championships this fall. The Feed the Dream Project will provide 20 athletes with a free 24-bar monthly Picky Club membership from June through October, online training guidance from pros Jesse Thomas and Matt Lieto, and free access to Jasyoga’s “Yoga for Athletes” videos. Feed the Dream is open to age groupers and professionals, no strings attached, so each triathlete can focus on on their goals—training hard, eating well, and chasing their dreams.
“As professional athletes ourselves, nutrition is a huge part of training, and quality food is freaking expensive.” said co-founder, Lauren Fleshman. “During my racing career, there was no energy bar made of real food that applied sports nutrition principles for performance. Picky Bars is that bar.”
Added co-founder, CEO, and multiple Ironman and 70.3 Champion triathlete Jesse Thomas, “Picky Bars was founded primarily as way to support, encourage, and connect with athletes. We’re proud and stoked to extend that support, particularly in a year where both 70.3 and 140.6 races are being held at home.”
Athletes interested in participating can find more information and apply online at pickybars.com/feedthedream. Applications are being accepted through Sunday, May 21st at 11:59 pm PDT.
