San Francisco, CA – [July 26, 2026] /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Today, over 30,000 athletes and thousands of spectators gathered along the Embarcadero today as the 49th Annual San Francisco Marathon officially concluded. Spanning two days of competition—headlined by the grueling 52.4-mile Ultramarathon and the classic 26.2-mile Full Marathon—runners from around the globe tackled San Francisco’s famously scenic and challenging terrain.
“The energy across San Francisco this weekend was nothing short of remarkable,” said Lauri Abrahamsen, Race Director for the San Francisco Marathon. “Watching ultra-runners start in the dark on Saturday night and merge with thousands of full and half marathoners as the sun rose over the Bay Bridge is a testament to the grit, unity, and passion of this community. We congratulate every runner who took on the hills and crossed our finish line.”
The double-loop Ultramarathon kicked off late Saturday evening at 10:15 p.m., leading ultra-runners through an overnight 26.2-mile loop before joining the main body of full marathoners at 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
