How the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series Works
All 2027 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series races are open to all eligible professional triathletes, from rookies beginning their triathlon career to the world’s best with numerous Olympic and World Champions vying for the season crown. Prior IRONMAN Pro Series seasons have featured fast and exciting racing among rising stars, seasoned triathletes, and world champions who set the standard for excellence in the sport of triathlon.
While professional athletes can choose any combination of designated races in the series, only the top five race performances of the year count towards an athlete’s final ranking, of which a maximum of three IRONMAN event results can be counted. At each of the 16 designated 2027 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series events, professional athletes will earn points based on their finish times to count towards a final series ranking.
A first placed finish earns maximum points – 5,000 points for an IRONMAN triathlon and 2,500 points for an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, while winning the IRONMAN World Championship triathlon will earn 6,000 points and the Precision Fuel & Hydration IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon will earn 3,000 points. Every Second Matters™ in the 2027 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series, with every second between the race winner and other finishers equating to a point won or lost.
The end-of-year Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series bonus prize pool will pay out $1.7 million USD to the top 1-50 ranked athletes. An additional $2.5 million in event prize money will be earned at individual races. The top 10 ranked athletes in each gender at the end of the series will earn a share of $1.3 million USD of the bonus prize pool, with the top placed male and female taking home $200,000 USD each. The remaining $400,000 bonus prize pool for athletes finishing 11th to 50th in the standings is adjusted and weighted according to ranking to encourage year-long competition and reward more professionals who finish higher in the rankings.
In addition, almost 50 events outside of the 2027 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series will also offer IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 professional racing that includes world championship qualifying opportunities, as well as over $2 million USD in additional pro prize money to create a total of over $6 million USD in competition-based money on offer for professionals.
