3.1-mile course finishes in North Shore Park with half marathon participants, offers same Rock ‘n’ Roll experience in a shorter distance; Registration open online at RunRocknRoll.com; entry price increases on January 8
St. Petersburg, FL – Dec. 21, 2012 – Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Pete Half Marathon today announced the addition of a new 3.1-mile “Mini Marathon” to the 2013 race, which takes place on Sunday, February 10. The Mini Marathon will feature all the excitement and fanfare of race day, with the same finish line as the half marathon at North Shore Park.
“The shorter distance is a great way for runners to get a taste of the half marathon experience,” said Lyndsi Weichert, Event Director. “Now anyone can enjoy bands and cheer squads along the course as well as the finish line festival with a headliner concert. Additionally, the Mini Marathon can act as a stepping stone for participants who are interested in getting involved in running a longer distance in the future.”
Mini Marathon runners will receive the same perks as the half marathon participants including an official race tee, a finisher medal, one complimentary beer courtesy of Michelob Ultra, and access to the finish line concert. The Mini Marathon registration is $35 until January 8, when it will increase to $45. To register, please visit runrocknroll.competitor.com/st-petersburg.
The race course will take runners through one of Florida’s most welcoming cities, with a convenient start at Tropicana Field. Participants will then run alongside Central Avenue’s unique downtown shops and restaurants, past the iconic Vinoy Renissance Resort, and along the beautiful waterfront before an exhilarating finish at North Shore Park. Finishers can literally dip their toes in the ocean upon completing the 13.1-mile or 3.1-mile distance.
Race weekend begins with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo where all participants go to pick up their race number. Taking place on Tropicana Field, the Expo will feature the latest in running and fitness retailers, exhibits and clinics.
