Naptown Half Marathon and 10K/5K Rescheduled to August 16, 2020

Race moves to a late summer date to comply with state guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The 2020 Naptown Half Marathon & 10K/5K has been rescheduled to August 16, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The annual race was previously scheduled for May 30, but race organizers made the decision to push the date to later in the year to comply with Maryland’s virus response and to comply with social distances guidelines.
Naptown is one of the latest to be forced to adapt and make changes in the interest of public safety. The events industry has been hit hard since the outbreak began in early March in the US. Nearly every race from March on has had to cancel, postpone or change to a virtual run.
“We have been working in conjunction with city and county authorities as well as the Naval Academy Athletic Association to find a new date because we really want to hold the race in 2020,” said Matt Florio, Vice President of Legendary Sports Group who is the Race Director for the event. “We are grateful to have a new date for later this year and also that we are able to offer our runners other options if they cannot participate on our new date in August.”
Runners that are currently registered for the race and cannot run on the new date will be allowed to defer their registration for free to next years race or participate in a Virtual Run on the original race date.
“We know runners have been training for a May race and are ready to go so we want those people to be able to run and stay on their training schedule which is why we are having the Virtual Run on the original date,” Florio said. “We will be mailing out finisher medals and race premiums to those runners.”
