With seven events taking place May through September, the summer will be packed with outdoor events for people of all ages and abilities.
Life Time Athleta Esprit de She – The Spirit of Her Race Series returns for its second year and kicks off Life Time’s Minnesota athletic event season with a duathlon beginning and ending across from King Park at Life Time Fitness Lakeville. The women’s only event offers an ideal course for first-timers and a fun speed challenge for more experienced duathletes. Celebrate with family and friends at the post-race Lifestyle Market at Life Time Fitness Lakeville while enjoying a drink at the signature Bubbly Bar including your own GoVino wine glass, and access to our Beauty Bar with complimentary massage, mini manicures and hair braiding compliments of Life Spa.

The Life Time Kids Tri Winona is a great opportunity for kids to participate in an enjoyable, low-key, athletic competition. Participating young triathletes, ages 5-13, will first swim first in the St. Mary’s University pool, transition directly to bicycling and finish the competition running around the paths surrounding the University. Life Time Kids Tri Winona supports the Morrie Miller Athletic Foundation, a Winona-based non-profit dedicated to preserving and growing youth athletics in our region.

One of the most challenging triathlons in the Midwest because of the tough terrain, Life Time Tri Trinona begins with a swim in beautiful Lake Winona including views of Sugarloaf Bluff followed by an intense bike in Mississippi River Bluff Country. Those participants in the longer, international course will head up Garvin Heights, one of Bicycling magazine’s “Top 100 Climbs” in the U.S. Finally, triathletes will finish flat and fast run around Lake Winona. Since 2009, Life Time Tri Trinona has helped raise nearly $40,000 for the Morrie Miller Athletic Foundation, which supports Winona-area youth athletics in more than 20 different programs. Life Time Tri Trinona is also the only sporting event in Minnesota to be certifiedfrom ReSport, the leading oversight on environmentally and socially responsible practices in the world of sporting events.

The 99-mile course of the Lutsen 99er takes advantage of the scenery and topography of Minnesota’s North Shore, high above the shores of beautiful Lake Superior. For those looking for a shorter course 39- and 19-mile options also offered. A kids race, for ages 5 to 12, is also held the next morning, June 29. Lutsen 99er is charitable partners with the Minnesota High School Cycling League which promotes personal development and teamwork through mountain bike racing, and encourages the formation of teams at public and private high schools.

Thousands of professional and amateur triathletes will descend upon Minneapolis on Saturday, July 12 to compete in the 2014 Life Time Tri Minneapolis, presented by Toyota, at beautiful Lake Nokomis. The event is also the first event in the Toyota Triple Crown Series that will award $50,000 and the coveted Toyota Cup to the top professional female or male triathlete competing in all three Toyota Triple Crown events including Life Time Tri Minneapolis, New York City Triathlon and Life Time Tri Oceanside. Life Time Tri Minneapolis isn’t just for the pros though. The event includes a Sprint and International distance as well as a relay component for those who would rather showcase their swim, bike or run skills alongside a team. In addition, the North American Junior Triathlon Invitational will take place where children ages 13-17 will compete with teams from Canada and the United States for individual and group awards.

A sellout event every year, the Kids Tri Plymouth promotes fitness and improves children’s self confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. Young athletes, ages 5-13, will swim, bike and run in this 3-event race and each young triathlete will receive his/her own race T-shirt, swim cap, race number and finisher medal! Spectators are also encouraged to cheer on participating kids.

Life Time Athleta Esprit de She will once again kick off the annual Crazy Days summer shopping weekend hosted by the 50th & France Business Association. The fitness-inspired ”happy hour” begins with a timed 5K run and ends with a post-race lifestyle market featuring shopping discounts from local businesses. Participants can toast their success with a drink at the signature Bubbly Bar hosted by Pig & Fiddle, enjoy healthy eats freshly grilled from Edina Grill and live music while enjoying the shopping discounts from participating Edina businesses. Participating ladies will receive “fashionable freebies” including a custom designed Athleta lifestyle tank and Athleta gift bag.

Celebrating its XX year, the Torchlight 5K is a fun run for everyone from the dedicated runner to someone who jogs from the couch to the fridge,. On July 23, this evening event features a lively post-work atmosphere and a legendary post-race party on the Minneapolis Riverfront, near St. Anthony Main including musical entertainment and complimentary refreshments. The Minneapolis Torchlight 5K fun run will provide participants with a first-hand tour of Aquatennial’s CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade route in front of thousands of spectators and takes runners down Hennepin Avenue, along the Mississippi River and across the Stone Arch Bridge.

A community favorite and sell out event, Life Time Tri Maple Grove is celebrating its fifth anniversary and for amateur, elite and avid triathletes. The event starts and finishes in spacious Weaver Lake Park offering spectators hilltop views of the swim course, transition area and the finish line. Triathletes can choose from two distances including sprint and international distances, both of which are open to individuals and relay teams.

The third and final Athleta Esprit de She event in the Metro invites women to an ideal ladies night out in the heart of Maple Grove’s iconic Main Street. The 5K and 10K routes offerviews of blooming Town Green, the Government Center and charming shops while the post-race celebration takes place at the Lifestyle Market featuring a signature Bubbly Bar, Beauty Bar and healthy eats from 3 Squares Restaurant. For women with children, Life Time Fitness Maple Grove is hosting Parent’s Night Out from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. so mom can participate and enjoy the celebration afterwards.
