Athletes Will Experience Iconic Course With Post-Race Parties After Every Stage
LEADVILLE, Colo. (July 18, 2017) —Each year, athletes from across the world vie for a chance to experience the famed Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike course. The high-altitude 100-miler is acclaimed for its difficulty, with over 12,000 feet of elevation gain in a single day. Completing the race is a monumental task for even the most accomplished mountain bikers.
From July 28-30, 2017, the Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Stage Race will offer athletes of all abilities the opportunity to experience the legendary Leadville Trail 100 MTB course split over three days. Participants who aren’t ready to tackle the entire 100 miles can even form a team of two or three riders, allowing each person to race one or two stages.
The Leadville Stage Race also serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB. Participants at this year’s event will have a 1-in-3 chance of earning their spot into the 2017 Leadville Trail 100 MTB on August 12, 2017.
“This will be the third year of the Leadville Stage Race and we’re excited to see the event grow each year. It’s truly an event that is accessible to even the most novice mountain bikers. The three-stage format gives advanced riders a chance to see how hard they can push each section of the LT100 MTB course and first-timers an opportunity to experience a Leadville Race Series event without the demands of training or completing 100 miles in a single day,” said Ken Chlouber, Founder of the Leadville Race Series. “Plus, the celebrations and parties after each stage let all participants enjoy the weekend and get a sense of what being a part of the Leadville Race Series family is all about.”
The Leadville Stage Race consists of three stages covering the Leadville Trail 100 MTB course. The majority of the race is on forest trails with some mountain roads and elevations ranging from 9,200 to 12,424 feet. After each stage, athletes will enjoy a post-race party with food, drinks and live music.
