The Runner’s World Half Marathon and Festival is in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Festival includes a 3.8-mile trail run on Friday, October 19, a 5k and 10k on Saturday, October 20 and the half marathon on Sunday, October 21.
As presenting sponsor of the Runner’s World Half and Festival, Sellers and Altra Founder Golden Harper will host classes and seminars between the weekend’s races.
Friday, October 19
2:30pm – Altra Founder Golden Harper will lead a 30-minute interactive class designed to teach techniques and strategies to conquer trails and avoid common trail-running pitfalls. Harper will give critical tips on trail running that participants can put into practice on a 3.8-mile trail run following the class.
Saturday, October 20
12pm – Harper and Runner’s World’s Runner-in-Chief Jeff Dengate will talk about the best shoes and gear on the market. New runners to seasoned veterans will learn about what’s happening in footwear and the newest devices to help you reach your goals.
1pm – Harper will teach a 45-minute, hands-on, running seminar showing how to adopt efficient, low-impact techniques to help you run more efficiently and avoid injuries.
2pm – Altra Elite Sarah Sellers will join the panel for a Women’s Running seminar, along with Runner’s World Features Editor Ali Nolan and Runner’s World Half & Festival Medical Director Dr. Laura Dunne.
2pm – Harper’s “Run Better and Injury Free: The Myths & Science of Shoes, Feet, Form, & Injuries” seminar tells how running at an elite level, working at a running store and studying running injuries led him to create Altra. He’ll also discuss running myths and marketing versus the actual science that helps you become a better, faster, injury-free runner.
4pm – A special Q&A with Sellers about her Boston race, what she’s been up to since April and what’s next on her racing schedule.

While working at a running store, Altra founder Golden Harper was frustrated that modern running shoe+technology caused poor running form and had not decreased running injuries. His passion to create a shoe that followed the science produced Altra’s FootShape™ toe box, Zero Drop™ platform and Fit4Her™ female-specific shoes. Since its founding in 2011, Harper and co-founder Brian Beckstead have grown Altra from one to 30 shoe styles, winning multiple Editor’s Choice awards and distribution in more than 60 countries.
