Glow in the Dark: Running and biking in the dark with GORE® Wear

September 6, 2019

Now that the days are getting shorter and dusk comes early, visibility is essential. Even when daylight runs out, your ride or run continues. You’re still out there and you want to make sure you’re seen.

All GORE® Wear products are equipped with reflective elements, and the new winter collection adds a splash of color for extra visibility in low light.

Our designers smartly integrate reflectors into our products so that blend into the overall design. While they may not be all that noticeable at first, reflective logos and other small details are positioned at central locations and glow in the headlight beams of approaching cars and fellow cyclists.

In the road bike collection, for example, this can be seen in the design of the GORE® C7 GORE® WINDSTOPPER® Pro Jacket. This layer, perfect for the shoulder seasons, is made of

windproof, water resistant and highly breathable GORE® WINDSTOPPER® material and paired with a warming Polartec® Alpha® insulation layer. Now when it comes to visibility, this jacket  features reflective logos on all sides, and the sleeves provide a color contrast, in striking neon and white.

For those riding trail or looking for a more versatile jacket, the new GORE® C5 GORE-TEX Trail Hooded Jacket is available in a variety of colors, including neon, and features reflective elements as well.

Warm and visible while on the run

For runners, all jackets and second layers, such as the GORE® R3 Women Thermo Long Sleeve Zip Shirt and the GORE® R3 Women’s Melange Shirt, have reflectors on the sides and sleeves. The women’s collection boasts bright color versions in neon yellow and lumi orange. The men’s products are available primarily in red and shades of blue, but also feature neon elements.

Runners who don’t like to wear a jacket but also don’t want to freeze can don the new

GORE® R5 GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ Soft Lined Long Sleeve Shirt, an outerlayer that’s as comfortable as a shirt. Here too, the reflective elements and logos ensure visibility in the dark.
