September 28, 2017
Provence, France, sets the stage for three days of GFNY racing starting this Friday September 29th
NEW YORK CITY, September 28, 2017 – GFNY Global Marathon Cycling Series heads back to Provence for the inaugural 3-day stage race starting this Friday September 29th.
Provence, France provides some of the most spectacular cycling in the world. Three days of racing await cyclists at GFNY Provence in Montbrun-les-Bains, a town popular with road cyclists and for spa treatments – the ideal combination for a stage race.
With the tourist season over and summer temperatures cooling off, the conditions are set for a fantastic start for GFNY Provence. The 3-day stage event, the second 3-day stage race for GFNY, will provide seasoned cyclists a great challenge on and around Mont Ventoux.
“For riders looking to enjoy all that Provence has to offer but unable to join us for the 3-day stage race, it’s also possible to take part in only Stage 3 on Sunday October 1st, GFNY Baronnies,” said Lucie Hiegel, President and co-founder of GFNY Provence.
This 3-day stage race consists of three Gran Fondo racing days, meaning 100-140km of racing over 2000m of climbing each day. Day 1 features Montagne de Lure, Day 2 features Mont Ventoux from Sault, Day 3 ascends over 6 cols. Stunning Provencal courses each day.
All finishers of the 3-day stage race qualify for the Special Corral at the 2018 Campagnolo GFNY World Championship and the following 2018-2019 GFNY World racing season.
STAGE 1 Friday, Sept 29th
A 135km stage with 2480 meters of climbing on the roads of “Alpes de Haute Provence”, riders will discover another famous climb of the arrounds: la montagne de Lure. An 18km climb, between 4 to 8%. At the summit views of the Alps awaits.
