Garmin and Divers Alert Network (DAN) come together to provide divers with extra support
September 9, 2026

Collaboration enables Garmin Response emergency coordination center and DAN to communicate on their customers’ behalf during a dive-related emergency
OLATHE, Kan. (September 9, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced a collaboration with Divers Alert Network (DAN), the world’s most recognized and respected dive safety organization. This will help provide Garmin users who are active DAN members with a more direct connection to DAN’s specialized support during a dive-related emergency.
How it works
Garmin divers with an inReach® device and active inReach plan1 can now add their DAN member ID to the Emergency Notes section of their inReach account. Should an emergency happen and a diver triggers an SOS message using their inReach device, the Garmin Response℠ team will assist with coordinating the emergency response and share all relevant details with DAN (active membership required).
inReach SOS and the Garmin Response Center
Thanks to a dedicated SOS alert feature, divers using inReach devices – like the inReach Mini 3 Plus and a dive case – can quickly send an SOS message from the surface should an emergency occur to Garmin Response, a 24/7-staffed professional emergency coordination center. The Garmin Response team will then communicate with the user, their listed emergency contacts, search-and-rescue organizations and other available local resources. They provide updates to users and emergency contacts on the response effort, including confirmation when help is on the way, and remain available until the incident is resolved. Garmin Response monitors millions of handheld devices, satellite phones, smartphones and smartwatches each year.
Divers Alert Network
For over 40 years, DAN has been the world’s most recognized and respected dive safety organization. In a dive-related emergency, DAN’s 24/7 team can provide specialized dive-medicine consultation, help evaluate the appropriate level of care, identify suitable medical and hyperbaric facilities, and coordinate with treating providers. When medically necessary and available under the member’s applicable benefits or insurance coverage2, DAN can also assist with medical transportation, evacuation, and related logistics. Through this collaboration, Garmin Response helps coordinate the emergency response and rescue from the field, while DAN adds specialized medical expertise and assistance as the diver transitions into medical care.
