Four-Time World Record Holder Colin O’Brady Partners With Fast-Growing Endurance Series, 29029

August 20, 2019

With the addition of O'Brady, 29029 continues its disruptive push into the world of endurance events

Atlanta, GA — When Jesse Itzler asked his friend Marc Hodulich two years ago, “Do you think you have what it takes to climb Mt. Everest?,” Hodulich thought he was crazy. The duo then headed to a local mountain to see if they could complete their version of the climb. They hiked up the mountain, got a ride down and repeated this process until they climbed 29029 feet, the vertical equivalent of Mt. Everest. They called their idea “29029”.

Two years later, 29029 operates sold-out events at Snowbasin Resort in Utah (August 22-25) and at Stratton Mountain in Vermont (October 17-20). A simple question among friends has now created a new category of endurance hiking. The company rents private mountains where participants have 36 hours to complete the 29029 challenge. Each participant hikes up, takes the gondola down, and repeats this until they “summit” Mt. Everest.

As part of their growth plan, the company announced today that they’ve partnered with Colin O’Brady, making him a Co-Founder of 29029. O’Brady, who participated in previous 29029 events, is a four-time world record holder and one of the world’s most skilled adventurers, mountaineers, and endurance athletes. As part of the 29029 team, O’Brady will spearhead the event series’ expansion into new markets in 2020 and will raise awareness of the hiking challenge through his media channels and future expeditions.

The partnership with Colin O’Brady will also provide 29029 participants with up-close and personal access to one of the world’s best endurance athletes. Among his many accomplishments, O’Brady completed the world’s first solo, unsupported and unaided crossing of Antarctica, has summited Mt. Everest and holds three mountaineering world records – all after overcoming a devastating burn accident in his early twenties.

“Having participated in 29029 since inception, I’m excited to join the event series as a Co-Founder,” noted O’Brady. “The 29029 experience is innovative, challenging, and different from any other event out there. I’m excited to partner with 29029 as the challenges align perfectly with my own ideals and my desire to inspire others to unlock their untapped potential.”

O’Brady notably ends his speaking engagements with an important question – “What’s your Everest?” Participation in 29029 events is, in many ways, a metaphor for conquering the hardest things in life – but with persistence, the right mindset, and support from friends along the way, anything is possible.

“It’s not often that you get the opportunity to partner with someone who is the best in the world at what they do,” said Jesse Itzler, Co-Founder of 29029. “Our participants will now be able to get direct access to Colin’s training tips, mindset strategies and expertise. That kind of one-on-one interaction is invaluable for those in our events,” Itzler stated.
