America’s premier triathlon to take place September 7 in Nation’s Capital;Registration is available online at NationsTri.com; Corporate Challenge added to the lineup of several races-within-a-race
WASHINGTON, DC – January 2, 2014 –The only triathlon held in Washington, DC is open for registration. The 9th annual Events DC Nation’s Triathlon To Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Triathletes can register at NationsTri.com, with opportunities to join one of the many races-within-a-race—ranging from military to congressional challenges.
The “Events DC Nation’s Triathlon showcases the best of Washington DC and we look forward to welcoming participants from around the world to our wonderful city that is brimming with unique history, sights and experiences to be enjoyed by all,” said Erik A. Moses, managing director of Events DC’s Sports and Entertainment Division. “Last year the event attracted triathletes from 19 countries and 46 states, participating in a swim, bike and run past eight landmarks, while surrounded by 200 years of history, all in one morning.”
The Events DC Nation’s Triathlon is a weekend celebration with a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo and a finish line festival featuring a live band. The prestigious event is renowned for a scenic course that winds through the National Mall and Memorial Parks including a 1.5k swim in the Potomac River, 40k bike course through the streets of Washington and Maryland, before finishing with a 10k run through Washington DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish south of the FDR Memorial.

With its spectacular course and world-class reputation, the Events DC Nation’s Triathlon features several races-within-a-race including the new Corporate Challenge. Additional races-within-a-race includes a Gryphon Technologies Military Challenge, open to active duty military and veterans; CQ Roll Call Congressional Challenge, open to federal and Capital Hill employees; the Commander-in-Chief Challenge, open to participants from the military academy tri teams; Etihad Airways Tri Club Challenge, for triathlon club members; and the First Responders Challenge, for all active duty police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel or other first responders.
Building off of the success of its seven year partnership, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society returns as the official and exclusive charity of the event, which is the only triathlon in the country to benefit research toward a cure for blood cancers. Through the Team In Training program, participants have raised more than $12 million for blood cancer research and patient service programs.
