As one of the country’s largest turkey trots, with more than 35,000 people expected to take part in the Dallas YMCA 49th annual trot, ACTIVE Network will manage technology across the entire event lifecycle from online registration to race day check-in.
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is an annual tradition that draws people from all over the country each year, including individual runners, families and groups of friends. A key component of the Dallas YMCA’s event management technology decision was ACTIVE Network’s ability to handle event day check-in of their individual and grouped participants via the ACTIVE On-Site™ mobile application. On-Site offers a streamlined and easy-to-use way for event organizers to process on-site race-day registrations, race payments and participant check-ins. The Dallas YMCA will also leverage online marketing services from ACTIVE Network’s digital marketing consultants. The original Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot was held at the Old Fairgrounds in the early 1940s. The inaugural eight-mile race started in 1968. The three-mile fun run/walk was added in 1984 to accommodate the increased participation of individuals and families. In 2009, the three-mile fun run/walk distance changed to 5K, and the course was certified. Registration for the 2016 race is now open on ACTIVE.com.
