Corey Deveaux (Sydney, Nova Scotia) and Amy Farrell (Tupper Lake, NY) Win the 17th Annual IRONMAN Lake Placid Triathlon

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (July 26, 2015) – More than 2,500 athletes converged in Lake Placid today for the 17th annual IRONMAN®Lake Placid triathlon as Corey Deveaux from Sydney, Nova Scotia and Tupper Lake, New York’s Amy Farrell won the historic event. Deveaux (M30-34) crossed the finish line in 9:31:09 while Farell (W35-39) finished with a time of 10:13:19.

More than 2,500 athletes representing 22 countries and 42 states started the 2015 IRONMAN® Lake Placid triathlon, which consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run in the beautiful and historic surroundings provided by Lake Placid, N.Y. Competitors ranged in age from 18 to 78. Participants included Dave Silk, a former NHL star and member of the 1980 Winter Olympics gold medal “Miracle on Ice” team, as well as former BMX and X Games legend Dave Mirra. Silk finished with a time of 15:43:30 while Mirra crossed the finish line in 11:00:54.

One of more than 40 events in the global IRONMAN® Series, the swim took place in the clear waters of Mirror Lake, while the two-loop bike course navigates through the scenic and challenging Adirondack Mountains. The two-loop run course took athletes into town and back around Mirror Lake for a spectacular finish in the Olympic Speed Skating Oval. The event offered 50 coveted age-group qualifying slots to the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship presented by GoPro, taking place on Oct. 10 in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.
