CORE celebrates their commitment to research and development in thermal sports physiology with the Limited Edition Sweatlabs CORE 2
Zurich (June 9, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – CORE, makers of the first and only non-invasive, wearable and real-time core body temperature sensor trusted by Olympians and athletes alike, today announce the launch of the transparent Limited Edition Sweatlabs CORE 2: a limited-run, ice-clear version of their thermal sensor as debuted on pro riders at the Giro d’Italia last week.
The transparency of the new device is designed to represent the work CORE’s research and development arm, Sweatlabs, is doing to give athletes a window into the previously-invisible, thermal workings of human physiology. Born as a spin-off out of Albert Einstein’s alma mater, ETH Zürich, CORE has a deep history rooted in research and development and a commitment to Swiss innovation.
”Temperature is one of the body’s most fundamental signals,” CORE’s lead physiology researcher, Dr. Puck Alkemade explains. “It reflects the balance between metabolic heat production, environmental exposure, and the body’s ability to dissipate heat through sweating and circulation. And when harnessed in the right way, thermal data can be used by athletes to increase performance in both hot and cool race conditions through heat training protocols.”
Beyond bringing athletes the world’s first and only continuous, non-invasive, accurate core body temperature sensors straight from their production lab in Zürich, Switzerland, CORE’s Sweatlabs initiative is making thermal research more accessible, contributing to the public’s thermal performance knowledge, including training protocols, research findings, thermal metrics, and more.
With the introduction of their wearable research product CORE Calera® earlier this year, the Zürich-based company is actively working to bring the power of thermal monitoring beyond sport into applications such as work safety, circadian rhythm, women’s health and more.
CORE have built a robust coaching and athlete performance program, with in-house experts advising the biggest names in endurance sport, including pro cyclists UAE Team Emirates, world-champion triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt, ultrarunner Tom Evans, and more.
CORE’s unique heat flux sensing technology has also provided it the ability to test and optimize thermal properties of various apparel and gear, like naturally cooling apparel and accessories designed to bring body temperature under control during times of heat stress.
CORE’s Sweatlabs initiative aims at bringing innovative new thermal performance products to the market for the heat of the 2026 race season, with the Limited Edition Sweatlabs CORE 2 marking the first of several product releases scheduled this year.
