Competitor magazine rebrands itself as Competitor Running; new masthead premieres with September issue
SAN DIEGO – September 1, 2017 — Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) today unveiled the new look of Competitor, the leading American running magazine, with a new name, Competitor Running. The redesigned masthead premieres with the September issue.
The magazine’s editorial will continue to feature the best running content, from events and personalities to nutrition and gear reviews. The name change is a continuation of the evolution for the brand that began 30 years ago as regional publication on newsprint.
“Our goal with the redesign of the magazine was to find the best ways the reach and help all different kinds of runners. Think of Competitor Running as your personal coach with expert sources and science-backed content,” said Nicki Miller, Executive Editor of Competitor Running. “Our new section dedicated to the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series gives us a unique opportunity to connect with so many fun-loving, committed runners—including those training for their first race.”
With a redesigned cover featuring the inspirational Cindy Spiva, winner of the Cover Athlete Contest presented by Brooks Running, the first issue of Competitor Running will help runners find their stride with breathing techniques, foot strengthening exercises and a training plan for the 5-mile distance. A comprehensive trail shoe review anchors the gear section. The magazine will also feature monthly columns from American elites Meb Keflezighi and Neely Spence Gracey.
As the official publication of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, the redesign will feature a section dedicated to upcoming events as well as an enhanced distribution strategy at race expos.
