More Than 2,500 Athletes Converged in Colorado for Second Annual Triathlon

BOULDER, Colo. (August 2, 2015) – Boulder provided a beautiful backdrop for athletes from around the world at the 2015 Blueprint for Athletes IRONMAN® Boulder triathlon. Clay Emge (M30-34) from Taylor, Texas and Francesca Tibaldi (F40-44) from Fumane, Italy claimed victories with finishing times of 8:45:20 and 9:53:41, respectively. Six of the top 10 male finishers hailed from Colorado while six of the top 10 female finishers also call Colorado home.

More than 2,500 athletes representing 39 countries and 47 states started the 2015 Blueprint for Athletes IRONMAN® Boulder triathlon, which consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run in the scenic surroundings provided by Boulder, Colorado. Competitors ranged in age from 18 to 75.

One of more than 40 events in the global IRONMAN® Series, the single-loop swim took place in the calm waters of the Boulder Reservoir, while the multi-loop bike course was entirely within Boulder County and featured amazing mountain views along with a handful of intermediate climbs. Athletes then enjoyed a two-loop run course through the Boulder community with great support from spectators and family members. The day ended for athletes at the electric finish line on buzzing Pearl Street. The event offered 50 coveted age-group qualifying slots to the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship presented by GoPro, taking place on Oct. 10 in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.
