New Program Will Focus on Local Outreach
(INDIANAPOLIS – September 13, 2018) – Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)3 non-profit responsible for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, announced the launch of a new program this week, Monumental Moms. The program, developed in partnership with The Produce Moms, aims to create a safe, fun community where women starting a path to fitness can connect, feel empowered, and engage through the sport of running.
“Our goal with Monumental Moms is to help bring people together who can support each other and their goals, who might otherwise struggle to find the time to focus on themselves,” said Jed Cornforth, executive director of Beyond Monumental. “By focusing on small communities at a grassroots level, we want to make Monumental Moms flexible, friendly, and adaptable to any level of fitness.”
Monumental Moms programs will be led by “Squad Leaders” that coordinate meetup groups in their neighborhood or community. Through runs, walks, and social gatherings Moms will have the opportunity to connect with others starting or trying to maintain their own fitness level. There is no cost to join. Squad Leaders in 2018 are Lori Taylor, Katy Mann, and Erin Peckinpaugh.
“I’m eager to launch Monumental Moms because I know what it’s like to juggle being a mom, owning a business, and finding time to exercise,” said Lori Taylor, CEO and founder of The Produce Moms, “I believe that running is for everyone as both physical and mental exercise, as well as great way to reduce stress.”
Monumental Moms officially launched on Wednesday, September 12 on a Facebook Live event. The video can be viewed here.
Interested individuals should join the official Monumental Moms Facebook Group.
The program adds to a growing list of programs from Beyond Monumental that promote health and wellness in the greater Indianapolis community. The next opportunity to take part in a Beyond Monumental event will be the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben on Saturday, October 6.
