Community Outreach Manager Casey Collins named Interim Executive Director
INDIANAPOLIS – (Nov. 16, 2016) Beyond Monumental has begun a nationwide search for a new Executive Director. The search follows an announcement made in mid-October that current Executive Director Blake Boldon would be leaving the organization to accept a position as the associate athletic director in charge of the Drake Relays at Drake University. The position will be filled in the interim by Beyond Monumental Community Outreach Manager, Casey Collins.
Collins joined Beyond Monumental in August of 2012 and has played a key role in the organization. His primary duties include community partnerships, volunteer coordination and the youth running program, Monumental Kids Movement. Collins’ influence over Monumental Kids Movement has led to tremendous growth over its four-year history. Starting in 2012 with a single school, it now reaches over 50 schools across three Marion County school districts. Monumental Kids Movement aims to educate elementary students on the importance of healthy, active living and provides entries to 5K races for those who achieve 75% attendance. The program saw over 1300 students graduate in 2016.
“Casey has played an instrumental role in the growth of the organization since he came on board as Beyond Monumental’s second employee four years ago,” said Katherine Coble, president of the Beyond Monumental board of directors. “He will be able provide both the stability and knowledge that the organization needs during this transition period by serving as the Interim Executive Director.”
Beyond Monumental’s signature event, the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, is one of the top 20 marathons in the U.S. and saw record participation numbers at its ninth annual running this year. The event also saw its first ever title sponsor, CNO Financial Group, named earlier in 2016. Both the marathon and half marathon are among the fastest growing in the industry, and in combination with the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental 5K and Monumental Health and Fitness Expo, the race weekend generates an estimated impact of $8.4 million (source: Visit Indy). In addition to the November event, Beyond Monumental also hosts the Monumental Mile in June, and the Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5K in October.
“Our organization has experienced tremendous growth and change over the past four years,” said Collins. “I’m excited to work with our staff to lead us through this new opportunity as we continue to push forward into 2017. With consistency in leadership, we can continue to reach our organizational goals while fulfilling and surpassing our objectives.”
As a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, Beyond Monumental has donated more than $825,000 to support local public education, including $150,000 in 2016 alone. The organization seeks to spread health and wellness throughout Indiana through its events, youth running program, and employee wellness program, Apex Monumental Challenge.
