NYCRUNS and Hiccup Team Up to Eliminate Cup Waste on Race Day

Brooklyn, NY, October, 2023/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – NYCRUNS makes great strides towards a more environmentally-friendly race by partnering with Hiccup, a reusable cup service working to eliminate cup waste at endurance events.

Hiccup will make its first NYCRUNS appearance starting this weekend at the NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K & 10K, a two-day Halloween event on Governors Island starting with a 10K on Saturday, October 28, and a 5K on Sunday, October 29.

“Hiccup is a great solution to eliminate cup waste and make our events a little bit greener,” said Steve Lastoe, Founder and CEO, NYCRUNS. “At Haunted Island alone, we will be preventing approximately 10,000 cups from going to the landfill by going with a reusable option.”

Participants of the NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K & 10K will use Hiccup’s blue silicone cups at all hydration stations on the course and post-finish. Hiccup provides designated bins for the runners to toss their cups into after use. After each race, Hiccup collects and sanitizes all used cups to prepare them for future races.
