Anfi Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria 2027 will introduce an exciting new race format, separating the age group and professional fields across two days to further enhance racing conditions, fairness and the overall event experience.

September 1, 2026 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Anfi Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria 2027 will introduce an exciting new race format, separating the age group and professional fields across two days to further enhance racing conditions, fairness and the overall event experience.

Under the new format, age group athletes will take centre stage on Saturday 17 April while the professional race will take place on Sunday 18 April, giving each field its own dedicated day on the spectacular roads of Gran Canaria.

The change will deliver significant benefits for both age group and professional athletes. For the professional field, racing on a completely clear course will create the optimum environment for fast, safe and fair competition. With no age group traffic on course, athletes will have more space to race and officials will have improved visibility of the entire professional field.

The new format will also enable Anfi Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria to implement the 20-metre drafting rule for the professional race, further reinforcing Challenge Family’s commitment to fair, athlete-focused racing.

For age group athletes, Saturday’s dedicated race day means more space on course and the opportunity to enjoy their own racing experience. It also brings an additional benefit once they cross the finish line: the chance to relax, recover and return on Sunday as spectators to watch some of the world’s best triathletes in action.

The two-day format will create an even stronger festival atmosphere throughout the weekend, helping build the exceptional spectator environment for which Challenge Family events are known.

Set against the dramatic volcanic landscapes and Atlantic coastline of Gran Canaria, Anfi Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria has established itself as the stand-out European season opener on the international triathlon calendar. The new two-day format, along with the revised 100km course as part of the Triathlon World Tour, represents the next step in the event’s 20-year history of putting athlete experience at the heart of the weekend.
