For Altra’s Elite Team, Ian Sharman will be racing Western States for his ninth time, having placed in the top 10 for his previous eight races. Racing for the fifth time will be Jesse Haynes who grabbed top 10 finishes for his previous four, and Kaci Lickteig who won first female in 2016. Jeff Browning is on his fourth race, after placing third in 2016 and fourth in 2017. Back for a third time are Kyle Pietari who finished tenth in 2017 and eighth in 2016 and Nicole Kalogeropoulos who finished sixth in 2017.  Returning for the second time at Western States is Mark Hammond who finished third last year, Amanda Basham who placed fourth in 2016, Zach Bitter and Traci Falbo.

For Altra’s Red Team, Kenneth Ringled and Ricky Roane are both back for their second race, while Cory Reese, Jenny Welch and Altra Tech Rep Kyle Northrop will be tackling the legendary course for the first time.

Be sure to follow Altra’s Twitter account over the weekend to stay updated on all of Altra’s athletes.

The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world’s oldest 100-mile trail race. The course starts in Squaw Valley and ends in Auburn, California. Racers climb more than 18,000 feet and descend nearly 23,000 feet to reach the finish. Western States started in 1974 and has come to represent one of the ultimate endurance tests in the world.

About Altra

While working at a running store, Altra Founder Golden Harper was frustrated that modern running shoe technology caused poor running form and had not decreased running injuries. His passion to create a shoe that followed the science produced Altra’s FootShapeTM toe box and Zero DropTM platform. Since its founding in 2011, Harper and co-founder Brian Beckstead have grown Altra from one to 25 shoe styles, winning multiple Editor’s Choice awards and distribution in more than 60 countries.
