Evan DeHart takes his 2nd men’s title in 1:11:24 and Sara Petrick, 3rd women’s title in 1:22:00; 2015 Registration opens March 18th with special discounts
SARASOTA, Fla., March 15, 2014 – A record-breaking 4,500 runners, walkers and relay team members took part in today’s 9th Annual First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon & Relay, produced and presented by Life Time – The Healthy Way of Life Company. This number represents a nearly 30 percent over last year’s record numbers with 3,540 participants.
Evan DeHart, age 28 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. won his second consecutive men’s title in 1:11:24 and Sara Petrick, age 35 from Tampa, Fla., took her third consecutive women’s title in 1:22:00. Andre Hunt, age 51, of Plantation, Fla. won the wheelchair division in 45:04.
In the category divisions, Brian Keno, age 52 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., won the Masters Division in 1:20:42, finishing 5th overall (Note; Masters winner is the fastest runner over age 40). Robert Hammond, age 53, from Sarasota, Fla, won the Grand Masters Division in 1:28:18.
Women’s division winners included Lisa Boehler, age 44, Lehigh Acres, Fla., who took the Masters Title in 1:27:48 and New Port Richey, Fla.’s Diane Skiles, age 52, the Grand Masters in 1:37:49.
Relay team winners
On the relay side with 626 two-person teams participating, local North Port, Fla., Team TriFit Sports took the co-ed relay in 1:30:42, with Team Best Damn Race the men’s relay title in 1:24:56 and Vols Without Balls the female relay in 1:29:40.
Co-Race Director Javier Sanchez noted on the event: “We greatly appreciate all the community and sponsor support that helped us achieve these record numbers and sell out before race day. Sarasota is truly a special place that attracts runners and walkers from all over the world. It is the ideal mix of location and event support that that will enable us to continue to grow the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon & Relay into one of the must-do races in the country,” Sanchez added.
This was the first year that the Sarasota Half Marathon & Relay was owned and operated by Life Time, The Healthy Way of Life Company (NYSE: LTM). Life Time acquired US Road Sports and Entertainment Group in January 2014.

2015 Registration opens March 18th – special pricing March 18-20th
Registration for the 10th Annual First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon & Relay, scheduled for March 15, 2015, opens Tues., March 18, 2014 at 12 a.m. EST. Race organizers are offering a limited number of special early registration discounts for the half marathon only starting at $47.75/person. The special early pricing gradually increases through March 23rd. Early registration discounts for the Relay portion begin March 24, 2014. With an anticipated sell out again in 2015 and to get the best possible pricing, interested participants are encouraged to register early.
